CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

California Warm - Up: Unjudged warm - up round may be ridden prior to your judged class. Course B.

Leadline: Open to children 7 years and younger. Riders not allowed to cross enter into any classes where they would be asked to trot. To be judged 50% on equitation and 50% on suitability of mount. Points go to rider.

Pre-Short Stirrup: Open to riders 10 years and under. Judged on equitation. Riders may be asked to walk, trot and perform simple equitation tests. Riders not allowed to cross enter into any classes in which they would be asked to canter or jump.

Short Stirrup Equitation: Open to riders 12 years and under. Judged on equitation. Jumps may not exceed 18” and riders not al- lowed to cross enter into classes in which they would jump higher than 18”. Courses may be trotted.

Short Stirrup Hunter: Open to riders 12 years and under. Judged on performance, manners, and suitability. Jumps may not exceed 18” and riders not allowed to cross enter into any other VHSA Associate division except Hunter Pleasure, nor classes in which they would jump higher than 18”.

Unrestricted Hunter: Open to horses and ponies. No restrictions on riders. Side-saddle riders welcome.

Student Equitation: Open to riders in their first or second year of showing over fences at 2’ or higher as of 12/1/12. Judged on equita- tion, points go to the rider. Courses may be trotted. Fences 2’.

Maiden Hunter: Open to horses and ponies in their first year of showing over fences at 2’ or higher as of 12/1/12. Adults may ride ponies. Courses may be trotted. Fences 2’.

Pleasure Pony: Open to ponies ridden by juniors. To be judged on manners, suitability, soundness, and way of going. 

Pleasure Horse: Open to any horses. To be judged on manners, suitability, soundness, and way of going. To be split Junior/ Adult if entries warrant.

Ladies Side-Saddle: Open to junior and senior ladies on horses and ponies. Riders must be correctly attired in a Hunt Seat side - saddle.

Green Pony Hunter: Open to ponies in their first year of show- ing over fences at regulation height as of 12/1/12. To be ridden by juniors. Jump heights 2’ for small ponies, 2’3” for medium ponies, and 2’6” for large ponies.

Green Hunter: Open to horses in their first or second year of showing over fences at 2’6” or higher as of 12/1/12. Fences 2’6”.

Pony Hunter: Open to ponies ridden by juniors. Division will be split to Small/Medium and Large if entries warrant. Jump heights 2’ for small ponies, 2’3” for medium ponies, and 2’6” for large ponies.

BHSA/VHSA Pony Equitation: Open to junior riders mounted on ponies. Jump heights 2’ for small ponies, 2’3” for medium ponies, and 2’6” for large ponies. The judge will select at least 1/4 of class to show at the walk, trot, and canter and to perform additional tests at the judge’s discretion. Rider may not cross enter into any other equitation classes except for VHSA Equita- tion on the Flat.

Low Hunter: Open to horses and ponies. No restrictions on riders. Jump height 2’3”. May be combined with Schooling Hunter.

Schooling Hunter: Open to horses and ponies. Adults may ride ponies not entered in a pony division. Jump height 2’6”. May be combined with Low Hunter.

Child/Adult Hunter: Open to horses ridden by juniors and adult amateurs. Jump heights 2’6” or 3’. Division will be split Child/Adult if entries warrant.

VHSA Equitation on the Flat: Open to junior and adult ama- teurs. Division will be split if entries warrant. To be shown both directions of the ring at a walk, trot, and canter. Tests 1 - 19 may be used, excluding those requiring work over fences.

BHSA/VHSA Child/Adult Equitation: Open to juniors and amateurs on horses. Jump height 2’6” or 3’. The judge will se- lect at least 1/4 of class to show at the walk, trot, and canter and to perform additional tests at the judge’s discretion.

Working Hunter: Open to all horses and ponies not entered in a pony division at the same show. No restrictions on riders. Jump height 3’. May be combined with Schooling Hunter. 



General Rules
-Judges decision is final.
-ASTM/SEI approved headgear must be worn by all riders while mounted, at all times.
-VHSA/BHSA Rules apply where applicable
-All hunters judged on performance, manners, and way of going. All equitation riders judged on position, control, and guidance.
-The show committee reserves the right to refuse any entry, to cancel (if less than three entries), change, combine, split classes or change officials.
-Proper attire required. In extreme heat, jackets may be excused at judges discretion.
-Riders age as of December 1, 2012
-Open check or prepayment as well as signed waiver required to receive numbers.
-Pre-Entries due 48 hours prior to show.
-Checks payable to Davera Ackenbom. $50 fee for all returned checks
-Schooling permitted from 6:30 - 7:45am and during designated schooling breaks. Schooling for Pre - Short Stirrup riders from 7:45 - 8:00am.
-Negative Coggins required within 12 months. Bring a copy to leave with show secretary.
-Courses will be posted at secretary’s stand
-Ribbons awarded to sixth place in all classes. Championships and reserve championships awarded in all divisions except equitation.
-High - Point Trainer’s Award given at end of each show.
-Must compete in 50% of shows to be eligible for Year End Awards.
-No martingales permitted in U/S or Pleasure
-Disqualifications will result from fall of a rider, mount, or three refusals in any class, including warm - up.
-Neither Fox Whisper Farm, The Hunter Experience, show staff, nor volunteers are responsible for accident or injury to spectators, riders, handlers, horses, or personal property. Entry onto grounds constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of this policy.
-Please leave dogs and alcohol at home!!!
